Dinamo take the lead in the Finals

Alga-KTU - Dinamo 79-83

Dinamo grabbed the lead in the Higher League Finals. They overcame Alga-KTU in the championship game on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 19-17. But Alga-KTU won second period 25-24. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Alga-KTU outrebounded Dinamo 52-38 including a 21-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. The former international Evgeny Pekhov stepped up with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners and Bahgidas Bibolou chipped in 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side power forward Roman Gostishev (197-97) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds and forward Nurbek Aydanbek (196-1) scored 16 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. Four Dinamo and five Alga-KTU players scored in double figures.

Legion - Politekhnik 87-82

Legion claimed the first win in the consolation finals as they topped Politekhnik. Strangely Politekhnik outrebounded Legion 51-38 including 23 on the offensive glass. Naturalized Russian guard Emil Kasymaliev (190-89) nailed a double-double by scoring 14 points, 20 rebounds and 8 assists for the winning side and guard Baish Adiev (192-90) accounted for 26 points and 4 assists. Anatoly Podpalnyi came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 16 rebounds and Adylbek Naimanbaev (-1) added 23 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals respectively for Politekhnik in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Politekhnik's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help.
