Gines-29 celebrate Higher League title

Gines-29 - Legion 84-62

Gines-29 are the Higher League champions. They stormed past Legion to complete the sweep of the championship series. It looked good early as Legion took a 11-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Gines-29 took control winning next two quarters and eventually winning the game that evening by 22 points. They dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Legion's 18. The former international point guard Shakirzhan Kuranbaev (170-84) notched 43 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 7 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) to lead the effort and forward Nazim Oruchkulov (200-4) supported him with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Even 18 points and 9 rebounds by guard Baish Adiev (192-90) did not help to save the game for Legion. Center Stas Lukonin (206-88) added 15 points and 9 rebounds for the guests.

Gines-29 Jr. - Alga 63-66

Alga defeated Gunes-29 Juniors to even the consolation finals series. Alga outrebounded Gines-29 Jr. 53-33 including a 24-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. Guard Zhanysh Adiev (190-90) had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and power forward Roman Gostishev (197-97) chipped in 15 points and 15 rebounds during the contest. Aman Abdykerim (202-94) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds and center Dmitrii Danshin (197-94) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Four Gines-29 Jr. players scored in double figures.
