Higher League Round 12: Legion is defeated by Gines-29 Jr. in a derby game

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Bishkek: Gines-29 Jr. (#3) and Legion (#4). Legion was defeated at home 77-84 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Gines-29 Jr. looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Evgenii Pekhov (198-92) who helped to win the game recording 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and Aman Abdykerim (202-94) who added 14 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was center Stas Lukonin (206-88) with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Gines-29 Jr. (8-3) have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain third position behind leader Alga. Legion at the other side keeps the fourth place with five games lost.
Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Bishkek: Alga (#1) and Politekhnik (#5). Politekhnik was smashed at home by 22 points 73-95 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The winners were led by forward Nurbek Aydanbek (196-1) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds and Zhanysh Adiev supported him with 33 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Even a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds by power forward Roman Gostishev (197-97) did not help to save the game for Politekhnik. Politekhnik's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Newly promoted Alga maintains first position with 9-1 record. Politekhnik at the other side keeps the fifth place with eight games lost. They share the position with SHUM.
Second ranked Gines-29 (8-2) crushed at home 7th ranked Grizzly (1-9) by 68 points 109-41, which is the biggest margin this round on Saturday night. The best player for the winners was Roman Tikhonov who scored 28 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Gines-29's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Askat Bayanov who recorded 17 points. Gines-29 maintains second position with 8-2 record behind leader Alga. Grizzly lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with nine games lost.



Gines-29 - Grizzly 109-41

Second ranked Gines-29 (8-2) crushed at home 7th ranked Grizzly (1-9) by 68 points 109-41, which is the biggest margin this round on Saturday night. Gines-29 forced 33 Grizzly turnovers and outrebounded them 55-34 including a 22-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was guard Roman Tikhonov (178-4) who scored 28 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Forward Nazim Oruchkulov (200-4) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points, 19 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Gines-29's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Askat Bayanov (-87) who recorded 17 points and Tologon Arbaev (-92) added 8 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Gines-29 maintains second position with 8-2 record behind leader Alga. Grizzly lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with nine games lost.

Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Bishkek: Alga (#1) and Politekhnik (#5). Alga dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Politekhnik's 40. The winners were led by forward Nurbek Aydanbek (196-1) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds and guard Zhanysh Adiev (190-90) supported him with 33 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Even a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds by power forward Roman Gostishev (197-97) did not help to save the game for Politekhnik. Point guard Syimyk Esenaliev (181-0) added 18 points and 8 assists. Politekhnik's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win.
