Higher League Round 10: Gines-29 Jr. beat SHUM in a derby game

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Bishkek: Gines-29 Jr. (#4) and SHUM (#5). SHUM was smashed at home by 45 points 50-95 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Gines-29 Jr. dominated down low during the game scoring 38 of its points in the paint compared to SHUM's 16. Gines-29 Jr. forced 19 SHUM turnovers and outrebounded them 67-41 including a 22-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Gines-29 Jr. made 7 blocks. Forward Evgenii Pekhov (198-92) fired a double-double by scoring 22 points, 20 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 blocks for the winners. Swingman Kirill Beloglazov (191-84) chipped in 29 points and 8 rebounds. Center Rustam Dzhangirov (-96) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds for lost side. Gines-29 Jr. have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. SHUM lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with seven games lost.
Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Bishkek: Gines-29 (#2) and Legion (#3). Gines-29 (7-2) smashed visiting Legion (5-4) by 28 points 87-59. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Legion. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Nazim Oruchkulov (200-4) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds. Shakirzhan Kuranbaev contributed with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Gines-29's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Baish Adiev (192-90) replied with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for Legion. Gines-29 maintains second position with 7-2 record behind leader Alga. Legion at the other side dropped to the fourth place with four games lost.

At the losing side Elkhan Malaev responded with 25 points and 7 rebounds. Undefeated Alga (8-0) have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Newly promoted Alga maintains first position with a perfect record of 8 victories in a row. Grizzly lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Politekhnik.



Alga - Grizzly 89-70

Undefeated leader Alga delivered the eighth consecutive victory on Sunday night. This time they crushed 6th ranked Grizzly (1-7) 89-70 in Bishkek. They outrebounded Grizzly 50-39 including 21 on the offensive glass. Alga looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Grizzly's players. Guard Zhanysh Adiev (190-90) had a double-double by scoring 29 points, 17 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and guard Nurtay Subanbekov (185-92) chipped in 22 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. At the losing side Elkhan Malaev (-92) responded with 25 points and 7 rebounds and Askat Bayanov (-87) scored 18 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Alga (8-0) have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Newly promoted Alga maintains first position with a perfect record of 8 victories in a row. Grizzly lost third consecutive game.
