Higher League Round 8: Derby game ends with Gines-29's defeat of SHUM

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Bishkek: Gines-29 (#2) and SHUM (#5). Gines-29 (6-1) smashed visiting SHUM (2-5) by 36 points 85-49. Gines-29 made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 SHUM turnovers. The former international point guard Shakirzhan Kuranbaev (170-84) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points and 8 assists. Forward Nazim Oruchkulov (200-4) contributed with 14 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Gines-29's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Belek Bektenov (-95) replied with 21 points and 6 rebounds for SHUM. Gines-29 maintains second position with 6-1 record having just one point less than leader Alga. SHUM at the other side keeps the fifth place with five games lost.
Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Bishkek: Gines-29 Jr. (#4) and Politekhnik (#6). Politekhnik was defeated at home 80-85 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Evgenii Pekhov (198-92) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds and Nursultan Adylbek who added 16 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. Omurbek Atabekov (194-98) responded with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 10 rebounds. Gines-29 Jr. (4-3) moved-up to third place, which they share with Legion. Politekhnik lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with six games lost. They share it with Grizzly.

In the last game of round 8 Grizzly was beaten by Legion on the road 91-78.

Legion - Grizzly 91-78

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Legion (4-3) beat 7th ranked Grizzly (1-6) in Bishkek 91-78. Legion dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Grizzly's 40. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Baish Adiev (192-90) who helped to win the game recording 39 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 4 assists and center Stas Lukonin (206-88) who added 22 points and 17 rebounds during the contest. Elkhan Malaev (-92) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds and Askat Bayanov (-87) scored 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Grizzly players scored in double figures. Legion maintains third position with 4-3 record having just one point less than leader Alga, which they share with Gines-29 Jr. Grizzly at the other side dropped to the sixth place with six games lost. They share the position with Politekhnik.

Worth to mention a great performance of forward Evgenii Pekhov (198-92) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds and point guard Nursultan Adylbek (175-93) who added 16 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. Four Gines-29 Jr. players scored in double figures.
