Shakirzhan Kuranbaev
Former international Guard Shakirzhan Kuranbaev (170-G-84) put on an amazing game in the last round for top-ranked Guiness-29, receiving a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 17.
The 35-year old player was the main contributor (44 points, seven rebounds and eight assists) to his team's victory, helping them to outclass Guiness-29 Jr. (#5, 5-8) with 41-point margin 99-58. It allowed Guiness-29 to consolidate first place in the Kyrgyzstani Liga Forward. Guiness-29 has a very good season and are considered to have a run for the championship title. They improved their record to 12-1. In the team's last game Kuranbaev had a remarkable 68.8% from 2-point range and got six three-pointers out of 10 attempts. He has many years of experience at Guiness-29, through which he has constantly improved. Shakirzhan Kuranbaev has solid league stats. He is in league's top in points (2nd best: 31.8ppg) and averages impressive 57.5% FGP.
The second best player in last round's games was 29-year old Zhanysh Adiev (190-G-90) of league's second-best Moy Telefon. Adiev had a very good evening with a double-double of 32 points and 16 rebounds. Of course he led Moy Telefon to another comfortable win outscoring slightly lower-ranked Politekhnik (#4, 8-5) 80-59. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Moy Telefon consolidated its place in top 2 of the standings. His team lost just two games this season, while they won 11 matches. Adiev is one of the most experienced players at Moy Telefon and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 35.5ppg (#1). His other stats are also decent: 6.0rpg and 4.5apg.
Third on the list of top players last round was forward Elkhan Malaev (PF-92) of Grizzly (#7). Malaev scored 29 points and grabbed fifteen rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Grizzly, leading his team to a 80-67 easy win against slightly lower-ranked SHUM (#8, 1-13). Grizzly can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 1-12 record places them close to the bottom of the standings.Malaev has individually a great season in Kyrgyzstan. After 10 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 11.0rpg (6th best).
