Liga Forward Round 15: Legion beat Moy Telefon in a derby game

Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Bishkek: Legion (#3) and Moy Telefon (#2). Legion (9-3) won against visiting Moy Telefon (9-2) 85-79. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Moy Telefon. The best player for the winners was Aleksei Batskih (205-73) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points, 19 rebounds and 5 assists. Nurtai Subanbekov (185-92) chipped in 32 points and 6 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Zhanysh Adiev (190-90) who recorded 33 points (!!!) and 5 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Legion have a solid series of three victories in a row. Newly promoted Legion maintains third place with 9-3 record having just two points less than leader Guiness-29. Defending champion Moy Telefon keeps the second position with two games lost.
Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Bishkek: Politekhnik (#4) and SHUM (#7). Politekhnik (8-4) won against visiting SHUM (1-12) 84-73. It was a good game for point guard Syimyk Esenaliev (181-0) who led his team to a victory with 34 points (!!!) and 4 assists. Omurbek Atabekov contributed with 21 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Politekhnik's coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Rustam Dzhangirov (-96) answered with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds for SHUM. Politekhnik maintains fourth place with 8-4 record. SHUM lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 12 games lost.
Leader Guiness-29 delivered the eleventh victory on Sunday night. This time they crushed bottom-ranked Grizzly (0-11) 117-86 in Karakol. It was a great evening for Shakirzhan Kuranbaev who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!) and 11 assists. Coach 's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play all 12 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was Askat Bayanov with 34 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Guiness-29 (11-1) have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. They maintain first place. Grizzly at the other side still closes the standings with 11 games lost.

Grizzly - Guiness-29 86-117

Leader Guiness-29 delivered the eleventh victory on Sunday night. This time they crushed bottom-ranked Grizzly (0-11) 117-86 in Karakol. The game was mostly controlled by Guiness-29. Grizzly managed to win fourth quarter 24-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Guiness-29 forced 23 Grizzly turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 20 long-distance shots on high 52.6 percentage. Guiness-29 looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for the former international guard Shakirzhan Kuranbaev (170-84) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!) and 11 assists. Forward Aman Abdykerim (202-94) helped adding 14 points and 9 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Coach 's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play all 12 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was Askat Bayanov (-87) with 34 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 7 assists and Zhakshylyk Zhusupov produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. Five Guiness-29 and four Grizzly players scored in double figures. Guiness-29 (11-1) have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. They maintain first place. Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Bishkek: Politekhnik (#4) and SHUM (#7). Politekhnik (8-4) won against visiting SHUM (1-12) 84-73. The game was mostly controlled by Politekhnik. SHUM was better in second period 14-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Politekhnik forced 20 SHUM turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a good game for point guard Syimyk Esenaliev (181-0) who led his team to a victory with 34 points (!!!) and 4 assists. Omurbek Atabekov (194-98) contributed with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Politekhnik's coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
