Liga Forward Round 12: Guiness-29 Jr. beats SHUM in a derby game

Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Bishkek: Guiness-29 Jr. (#5) and SHUM (#7). Guiness-29 Jr. (5-5) smashed visiting SHUM (1-9) by 38 points 97-59. The game was mostly controlled by Guiness-29 Jr.. SHUM managed to win second period 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding SHUM to just 6 points in third quarter. Guiness-29 Jr. dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to SHUM's 36. Guiness-29 Jr. forced 21 SHUM turnovers and had a 38-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was forward Nazim Oruchkulov (200-4) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists. Swingman Kirill Beloglazov (191-84) chipped in 33 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was center Garri Trulev (-98) who recorded 17 points and 5 rebounds. Newly promoted Guiness-29 Jr. maintains fifth position with 5-5 record. SHUM lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with nine games lost.
Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Bishkek: Guiness-29 (#1) and Legion (#3). Guiness-29 (9-1) smashed visiting Legion (6-3) by 32 points 87-55. It was a good game for the former international guard Shakirzhan Kuranbaev (170-84) who led his team to a victory with 28 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. Evgenii Pekhov contributed with 23 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners. Guiness-29's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Nurtai Subanbekov (185-92) replied with 16 points and 4 assists for Legion. Guiness-29 have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 9-1 record. Newly promoted Legion keeps the third place with three games lost. They share the position with Politekhnik.
Bottom-ranked Grizzly (0-9) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 97-51 loss to fourth ranked Politekhnik (6-3) in Karakol on Sunday evening. Worth to mention a great performance of Ryskeldi Temirkanov who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 5 rebounds. Politekhnik's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was Elkhan Malaev with 7 points and 10 rebounds. Politekhnik moved-up to third place, which they share with Legion. Grizzly at the other side still closes the standings with nine games lost.

Grizzly - Politekhnik 51-97

Bottom-ranked Grizzly (0-9) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 97-51 loss to fourth ranked Politekhnik (6-3) in Karakol on Sunday evening. The game without a history. Politekhnik led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Politekhnik forced 23 Grizzly turnovers and outrebounded them 46-24 including a 22-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Grizzly's players. Worth to mention a great performance of Ryskeldi Temirkanov (186-97) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Syimyk Esenaliev (181-0) who added 21 points during the contest. Politekhnik's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was Elkhan Malaev (-92) with 7 points and 10 rebounds and Askat Bayanov (-87) scored 14 points and 5 steals. Politekhnik moved-up to third place, which they share with Legion. Grizzly at the other side still closes the standings with nine games lost.

Forward Evgenii Pekhov (198-92) contributed with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners. Guiness-29's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
