Kuwait will play its fifth match today against Qatar at 6:00 pm in the 26th Arab Basketball Championship, currently underway in Bahrain. This game is part of the tournament’s sixth round, with the event concluding tomorrow. Earlier today, Egypt faces the UAE at 4:00 pm, while Algeria meets Bahrain at 8:00 pm. Kuwait fell to Algeria 74-86 in the fifth round. Meanwhile, Qatar secured a 78-71 win over the UAE, and Tunisia defeated Egypt 85-73. Led by Serbian head coach Oliver Kostic and assistant Khaled Al-Gallaf, Kuwait showed a solid effort against Algeria, one of the tournament favorites. Currently, Kuwait is at the bottom of the standings with 4 points, having lost four matches so far—against the UAE, Egypt, Tunisia, and Algeria. Despite the setbacks, the team’s performance has been encouraging, especially given the youthful roster featuring many players competing in their first major tournament. Today, Kuwait aims to achieve its first win of the championship by overcoming Qatar.
