Qatar edge Kuwait in Bahrain- September 5, 2024Qatar battled back from a narrow deficit early in the final canto to claim their win against Kuwait. Mike Lewis II (186-G-1998, college: Duquesne) buried a three-pointer with under five minutes to go to break a 62-all deadlock and give the Qataris the lead for good. Babacar Dieng (196-F-1997) then fired in his own triple with a minute remaining to make it 72-64. The Kuwaitis valiantly stayed in the fight, however, and an Abdulaziz Alhamidi three-pointer brought them to within 72-74 with 2.2 seconds to go. But it was too late, and a Tyler Harris (208-C-1993, college: Auburn) alley-oop lay-up off the ensuing sideline inbounds pegged the final score. Harris and Lewis combined for 45 points as Qatar’s one-two punch. Harris had a game-high 23 to go with 11 rebounds, while Lewis finished with 22, including five three-pointers, and six assists. Omran Jawhar (203-C-2000) had 19 points to pace Kuwait, while Alhamidi chipped in with 13.
