Defending champion Al Kuwait SC (D1) signed 31-year-old American 188cm point guard Briante Weber (college: VCU) for the new season. He joins another USA player Augustine Rubit who is already on the team. Weber was the assist leader at Unahotels Reggio Emilia in the Italian Serie A last season, averaging 9.3ppg, 3.6rpg, 3.5apg, and 1.9spg in 34 games. He helped them reach the Italian Cup Semifinals. In the previous (2022-23) season, he played for Buyukcekmece (BSL) in the Turkish league and Bnei Ofek Dist Hertzeliya (Winner League) in the Israeli league.
He has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2016.
He is a very experienced player. Thanks to pro basketball, he experienced life in ten different countries playing on three different continents. Weber is familiar with European, Latin American, and North American leagues. He has played professionally in Canada (Honey Badgers), France (Metropolitans and Gravelines Dunkerque), Greece (Olympiacos), Israel, Puerto Rico (Indios), Turkey, NBA (GS Warriors, Houston Rockets, LA Lakers, Memphis Grizzlies, and Charlotte Hornets), NBA G League (Sioux Falls Skyforce and RGV Vipers), and The Basketball Tournament (Ram Nation).
Weber's team made it to the CEBL Summer Series Semifinals in 2020. Weber was voted to Eurobasket.com All-French ProA Honorable Mention in 2021.
He graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2015 and it will be his tenth season in pro basketball.
