Al Qurain (D1) signed experienced 34-year-old American 205cm power forward Rickey Young (college: WVU Tech) for the upcoming season. He joins another USA player Lamont Jones who is already on the roster. It is actually his comeback to Kuwait City as he has played there before. Young most recently played at Al Hilal in the Saudi Arabian SBL league, averaging 4.2ppg and 2.6rpg in 5 games last season. He also spent the pre-season at Sagesse - Al Hekmeh Beirut (LBL) in the Lebanese league.
He is a very experienced player. Young has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to fourteen different countries on five different continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America, Africa and of course North America). He has played previously professionally in Bahrain (Al-Riffa), Finland (HoNsU Basket), Germany, Iraq (Al Karkh, Al Naft and Air Defence Sporting Club), Kosovo (Bashkimi), Lebanon, Montenegro, Qatar (Al Khor), Syria (Al Karameh), Bolivia (LS Olympic, La Salle and Calero), United Arab Emirates (Baniyas and Al Bataeh), Kuwait (Kazma) and Libya (Al Ittihad Tri). His team won Saudi Arabia Prince Faisal bin Fahed Cup in 2024.
Among many awards, he was voted Afrobasket.com All-Libyan League Power Forward of the Year in 2022.
Young graduated from West Virginia University Institute of Technology in 2011 and it'll be his 14th season in pro basketball.
