Lamont Jones (ex Al Shurtah) joins Qurain

Lamont Jones

Al Qurain (D1) agreed terms with experienced 34-year-old American shooting guard Lamont Jones (183cm-89kg-1990, college: Iona, agency: Diamond Sports) for the new 2024-25 season. He was the top scorer at Al Shurtah in the Iraqi Superleague. In four West Asia Super League games, he had very impressive stats: 21.3ppg, 4.0rpg, 6.0apg, and 1.3spg. His team made it to the Iraqi League Cup Finalist in the 2024 final.
During the previous (2022-23) season, he played for Al-Manama (Premier League) in the Bahrain league. He also played for MBC (BBL) in the German league. Another team he played for briefly was Semt77 Yalova Belediye Spor (TBL) in the Turkish league.
Jones is a very experienced player. His career has taken him to three different continents, where he played in eight different countries. He has played professionally in Bahrain, Finland (Kobrat), Germany (EnBW Ludwigsburg and Skyliners), Japan (Volters), Montenegro (Mornar), Qatar (Al Rayyan), Saudi Arabia (Al Nassr and Ittihad), and Turkey (Yalovaspor). Jones has experienced life as a pro basketball player in Europe, Asia, and North America.
He received multiple awards, including Eurobasket.com All-Turkish TBL Player of the Year and Eurobasket.com All-Turkish TBL Import Player of the Year in 2021.
He graduated from Iona College in 2013 and it'll be his 12th season as a pro player. His team made it to the Iraqi League Cup Finalist in 2024 final. Jones played also for University of Arizona for 2 years.
