Al Qurrain (D1) strengthened their roster with addition of 31-year old American power forward Rickey Young (205cm-100kg-90, college: WVU Tech) for season 2021-22.

Young played last summer at Calero in Bolivian Libobasquet. In two games he recorded 10.0ppg, 6.0rpg and 1.0bpg. The last season he played at Al Hilal in Saudi Arabian SBL where in 16 games he averaged impressive 20.3ppg, 9.7rpg, 2.1apg, 1.5spg and 1.5bpg. He helped them to make it to the semifinals.
Young is quite experienced player.

Thanks to Young's pro career he managed to play on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America and of course North America) in ten different countries. He has played previously professionally in Bahrain (Al-Riffa), Finland (HoNsU Basket), Germany (46ers), Iraq (Al Karkh and Al Naft), Kosovo (Bashkimi), Montenegro, Qatar (Al Khor), Saudi Arabia (Al Nasr) and United Arab Emirates (Baniyas).

The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others he was voted Asia-Basket.com All-Iraqi League Forward of the Year back in 2016.
Young attended West Virginia University Institute of Technology until 2011 and it will be his eleventh (!!!) season as a professional player.
The scouts decsribe him following way: Ricky Young is the only player from USA, that is born 1990, and have 2 years experience in European league, outstanding jumping abilities, and athleticism, very fast, run floor good, good rebounder, blocker, can shoot from outside, team player, very coachable, definitely NBA potential..
