Kazakhstan Higher League round 1 best performance: Maksim Nalogov (by Hoops Agents)

Power forward Maksim Nalogov (198-F/C-1994) had an amazing evening in the last round for top-ranked MBK Bars Petropavlovsk, receiving a Hoops Agents Higher League Player of the Week award for round 1.
The 30-year old player had a double-double of 29 points and 17 rebounds, while his team beat ChelSU (#4, 0-1), the league's bottom-ranked team 78-63. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Bars to consolidate first place in the Kazakhstan Higher League. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Bars won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Nalogov had a remarkable 56.3% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Bars, through which he has constantly improved. Maksim Nalogov has solid league stats. He is in league's top in points (2nd best: 21.0ppg), rebounds (3rd best: 11.0rpg), assists (6th best: 4.0apg) and averages impressive 59.1% FGP and 50.0% from behind 3-point line.

The second best player in last round's games was young Aleksei Vereshagin (200-F-1992) of league's second-best MBK Kazygurt Shymkent. Vereshagin had a very good evening with 21 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Of course he led Shymkent to another comfortable win outscoring Champ1on (0-2) 113-54. His team has extremely good start of the season. They won both games so far. However the season is at the beginning, so everything can happen. They still may lose their high position in the standings. Vereshagin is one of the most experienced players at Shymkent and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.5ppg (#4). He also registered 10.0 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was guard Alexander Papshiv (191-G-1991) of ChelSU Kostanay (#4). Papshiv scored 26 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Despite Papshiv's great performance the ChelSU lost 63-78 to #1 ranked Bars. But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The season just started for Papshiv as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be team's leader.
