Astana Tigers - BK Almaty 91:86 (OT)

The Final in the Kazakhstan D1 tipped off with Astana Tigers taking on BK Almaty in the best-of-five series. Game 1 was played and Astana Tigers claimed a dramatic win to grab the lead. The teams were tied after 10 minutes of action 21:21. But the Tigers gradually started to get away and led by 2 points at the long break 42:40. However Oleg Ten (185-G-74) paced BK Almaty and the D1 newcomers found themselves up by 3 points before the final term. The teams kept a close attention to defense in the dying moments and finally were all square at 74 at the end of regulation. The decisive moments happened early in the extra time when Justin Bailey (188-G-77, college: Hartford) three times robbed Oleg Ten in the midcourt and converted easy layups for Astana to spur ahead. BK Almaty never recovered and had to surrender in the first game. Justin bailey finished with 25 points to lead Astana. Aleksey Tsvetkov (206-F-84) answered with game-high 26 points for BK Almaty.
