Astana - Irbis 101-83

Astana conquered National League title. They swept Irbis following a 101-83 win in Game 3 tonight. Grigory Motovilov (191-G-1998) scored 22 points to lead the winners.
Astana stormed into the game. They poured in 61 points in the first half to secure a massive 34-point lead. Irbis managed to narrow the gap in the second half but could not avoid the defeat as Astana raced to the title. T.J. Starks (188-G-1998, college: CSUN) netted 16 points, while Ruslan Aitkali (195-F-1997) had 15 points for the champions. Alphonso Willis (188-G-1998, college: A&M-Commerce, agency: Highlight Athletes) answered with 25 points, while Alexandr Zhigulin (205-F-1994) had 22 points for Irbis.

Anton Bykov, 36-year old forward from the MBK Tobol Kostanay, earned the Player of the Year at the National League. He received multiple other awards, picked up the Defensive Player of the Year, Domestic Player of the Year, Forward of the Year, and earned a spot in the First Team, Domestic Players Team and Defensive Team. Bykov orchestrated his way to the third spot in points per game, showcasing a dazzling average of over 20. He was the Player of the Week honoree 5 times during the 24 25 campaign. Bykov led the National League in rebounds per game with 11. He has totalled 13 games of 20 or more points and recorded double-doubles in 15 games on the year. Bykov's 38 points against the Irtysh were the most he scored in the 24 25 season. As evident, the league is predominantly led by former college players, with 6 out of the 10 scorers having graduated from US schools.
Alphonso Willis, American guard from the Irbis Almaty, was named the Import Player of the Year of National League. He graduated from A&M Commerce three years ago. Willis collected multiple other honors, was voted the Guard of the Year, and was selected to the First Team, Imports Team and Defensive Team. With Willis' excellent performance, the Irbis Almaty achieved the best record of the season in the league, finishing with an impressive 23 to 5 in the regular season. His best performance made his team reach the finals but they unfortunately were defeated by the Astana 0 to 3. Willis received Player of the Week award in the league. He averaged almost 16 points and 10 rebounds per game in the league. Willis has totalled 2 games of 20 or more points and registered double-doubles in 8 games on the year. His 25 points against Almaty Legion were the most he scored in the 24 25 season.
Aamer Muhammad, 23-year old American guard from the BK Barsy Atyrau, was chosen to the First Team at the National League. He is Troy alumni from 2024. Muhammad received multiple other awards, was named to the Imports Team and Defensive Team. He conducted his way to the second position in averaging a commendable over 21 points per game and second in assists per game, delivering a over 6 average. Muhammad has totalled 11 games of 20 or more points on the year and had 30 or more points in 5 games. He recorded double-doubles in 2 games at the event. Muhammad's 39 points against the Tobol were the most he scored in the 24 25 season. As evident, the league is predominantly led by former college players, with 6 out of the 10 scorers having graduated from US schools. Among many awards Muhammad's team won the LSC Regular Season in 2022. He was selected to the LSC All-Freshman Team back in 2020. Muhammad was also selected to the All-LSC Second Team back in 2022 during his college time.
Myles Douglas, American forward from the Irbis Almaty, earned a spot in the First Team of National League. He is ex the Morgan State from 2022. Douglas was also voted to the Imports Team. His best performance made his team reach the finals but they unfortunately lost against the Astana 0 to 3. Douglas logged almost 17 points and over 5 rebounds per game that season in the league. His 26 points against the Irtysh were the most he scored in the 24 25 season. As evident, the league is predominantly led by former college players, with 6 out of the 10 scorers having graduated from US schools. Douglas' team won the Portuguese Proliga Group North Regular Season in 2024.
Maxim Marchuk, 31-year old guard from the BK Caspiy Aktau, was selected to the First Team at the National League. He collected multiple other honors, was chosen to the Domestic Players Team and Defensive Team. Marchuk's court vision propelled him to the third spot in rebounds per game an outstanding average of almost 11. He also registered over 14 points per game over the season in the league. Marchuk has totalled 5 games of 20 or more points and notched double-doubles in 16 games on the year. His 30 points against Aktobe were the most he scored in the 24 25 season. Among many awards he won the Kazakhstan League championship title in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2023. He was selected as the Asia-Basket All-Kazakhstan League Honorable Mention back in 2022.
