Astana wins XXVII championship of Kazakhstan sweeping the Final series against Barsy Atyrau 2-0. They closed the series with the final 80-71 win on Tuesday. Trailing 1 point at the halftime, Astana posted a 15-9 run in the third quarter and added a decisive 20-16 rally at the very end. Stephen Holt (193-G-91, college: St.Mary's, CA) top-scored for the winners with 19 points and Kenneth Horton (201-F-89, college: CCSU) notched 18. Dmitriy Gavrilov (204-F-86) produced 15, whilst Rustam Yergali poured in 13. Donte McGill (190-G-95, college: FIU, agency: Two Points) answered with 35 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists in a loss. Chris McEachin (198-G/F-89, college: Norfolk St.) had 14 and Rustam Utegen (191-SG-96) posted 12.

Astana sealed Cup title in Kazakhstan winning all the games of the tournament. In the last game they edged Almaty Legion 84-62. The 7th time holders grabbed an early 19-11 lead and never looked behind. Moreover they posted a 15-6 surge before the halftime and nailed 33 points in the third quarter.
Aleksandr Zhigulin (205-F-94) top-scored for the winners with 18 points, while Dmitriy Gavrilov (204-F-86) notched 13. Fadeykin replied with 15 points in a loss and Vadim Korzhov (178-PG-97) netted 14.
