Jordan Call Up 16 Players for Initial Training Camp Ahead of FIBA World Cup 2027 Asian Qualifiers Window Two Amman, February 12 The technical staff of Jordan’s senior men’s national basketball team has announced a 16-player roster for an initial domestic training camp, as part of intensive preparations for the second window of the Asian qualifiers for the 2027 FIBA World Cup. The camp aims to raise the players’ physical and technical readiness while strengthening on-court chemistry ahead of the upcoming official fixtures, as Jordan seeks to maintain its strong presence on the continental stage. Squad List The invited players are: Ahmad Hamarsha, Hashem Abbas, Fadi Mustafa “Freddy,” Amin Abu Hawwas, Youssef Abu Wazaneh, Fadi Qarmash, Yazan Al-Taweel (Amman United), Mohammad Shaher, Abdullah Olajuwon, Adham Al-Dajani, Ahmad Al-Khawazleh, Youssef Dweik (Al-Faisaly), Malek Kanaan, Ahmad Hassouneh, Akef Al-Shiyab (Al-Wehdat), and Mahmoud Al-Hazaimeh (Al-Jubaiha). Center Ahmad Al-Dwairi, who plays professionally in the Turkish league, is set to join the squad in the next phase of preparations, along with naturalized player Jalen Harris. Preparations Underway The “Falcons of Jordan” began training yesterday at Prince Hamzah Hall in Al-Hussein Youth City. Jordan Basketball Federation President Dr. Samer Bakir attended the opening session, reaffirming his confidence in the team’s ability to raise the Jordanian flag high and confirming that the federation is providing all necessary support for success. The national team is led by Canadian head coach Roy Rana, assisted by Japanese coach Makoto Mamiya and Jordanian coach Nayef Asfour, alongside video coordinator Raed Ghosheh, strength and conditioning coach Ahmad Samir, physiotherapist Moath Najib, team manager Mohammad Al-Dabbas, and administrator Abdulhadi Salameh. Upcoming Fixtures Jordan will open its campaign in the second qualifying window against Iran at 7:00 PM on Friday, February 27, before facing Iraq at 4:00 PM on Monday, March 2. Both matches will be held at Nohad Naufal Sports & Theater Complex (Zouk Mikael) in Beirut, Lebanon, after Iran and Iraq were unable to host home games due to non-compliance with FIBA Asia hosting regulations. Federation Confidence The Jordan Basketball Federation expressed full confidence in the national team’s ability to deliver strong technical performances reflecting the sport’s continued development and Jordan’s continental and global standing, relying on the players’ experience, morale, and the technical staff’s leadership to achieve positive results in the road to the World Cup.
