Premier League Round 7 of Regular Season

Premier League is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 7 rounds left. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most interesting game of round 7 in the Premier League was a home defeat of 7th ranked Al Jalil (2-5) to fifth ranked Al Iglizia (3-4) 77-69. It was a great evening for American center Malik Wineglass (203-1993, college: Harris-Stowe St., agency: The Crew A.M.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds. The former international swingman Nader Ahmad (187-1992) helped adding 17 points and 7 rebounds. Al Iglizia's coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American forward Jace Hogan (198-1996, college: Jacksonville) responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 17 rebounds and 8 assists. Al Iglizia moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Al Wehdat. Al Jalil at the other side dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. They share it with Al Ashrafiyah. Al Iglizia is looking forward to face higher ranked Al Jubaiha (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Al Jalil will play against the league's leader Al Faisaly and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
The game between Top Four teams took place in . Leader host Al Faisaly (7-0) defeated 4th placed Al Wehdat (3-4) 80-67. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Al Wehdat. It was an exceptional evening for the former international guard Abdullah Olajuwon (195-2004) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists. Brian Halums accounted for 29 points and 9 rebounds. International guard Malek Kanaan (182-1993, college: W.Valley JC) came up with 11 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists for Al Wehdat in the defeat. Undefeated Al Faisaly have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 7-0 record. Al Wehdat at the other side keeps the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with Al Iglizia. Al Faisaly will play against Al Jalil (#7) in Irbid in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Al Wehdat will play against Shabab Bushra and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Amin Abuhawwas fired 22 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Israel Lockamy produced 31 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Amman United maintains second place with 6-1 record behind leader Al Faisaly. Shabab Bushra lost their fourth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with six games lost. Amman United will meet Al Ashrafiyah (#6) in the next round. Shabab Bushra will play against Al Wehdat and hope to win that game.

In the last game of round 7 Al Ashrafiyah was destroyed by Al Jubaiha on the opponent's court 103-67.

Amman United dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Shabab Bushra's 26. Amman United looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Shabab Bushra's players. The former international guard Amin Abuhawwas (190-1994, college: Mars Hill) fired 22 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Fadi Mustafa chipped in 16 points and 9 assists. Abuhawwas is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Rather expected game when 6th ranked Al Ashrafiyah (2-5) was crushed on the road by third ranked Al Jubaiha (4-3) 103-67 on Friday. Al Jubaiha dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Al Ashrafiyah's 40. Al Jubaiha had a 41-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Al Ashrafiyah's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Al Jubaiha made 7 blocks. Palestinian Yousef Albabeish (-2004) fired a double-double by scoring 19 points, 16 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners.
