Defending champion Al Ahly Tripoli (D1) strengthened their roster with the addition of experienced 34-year-old Lebanese international 203cm power forward Mohamad Haidar (college: Michigan Tech). He played this summer at Beirut Club in the Lebanese LBL league. In 24 games he recently played, he recorded 13.5ppg, 6.1rpg, and 1.8apg. He also played for another Lebanese team, Beirut Club (LBL).
Haidar represented Lebanon at the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 Qualifiers this year. During this event, he scored an average of 12.5 ppg and had 6 rpg.
He is a very experienced player. Thanks to his pro career, he managed to play on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Africa, and North America) in nine different countries. Haidar has played professionally in Bahrain (Al-Manama), Canada (Rattlers), Iraq (Al-Hashd), Jordan (Al Wihdat), Lebanon (Al Riyadi, Maristes, and Dynamo), Qatar (Al Gharafa), Slovenia (Sencur Gorenjska Kranj), Syria (Al Karameh), and Libya (Al Nasr).
In 2024, his team reached the Semifinals of the Dubai International Tournament. He was voted to the Asia-Basket.com All-Lebanese League Honorable Mention in 2024.
Haidar graduated from Michigan Technological University in 2013 and it will be his 14th (hopefully lucky) season in pro basketball.
