Abuhawwas' double-double lands him (Second Stage) Hoops Agents Player of the Week award- April 15, 2023
He had a double-double of 24 points and 10 rebounds, while his team outclassed Orthodox (6-4) with 38-point margin 94-56. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Al Ahli to take over top position in the Jordanian league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier in Second Stage. Al Ahli has a very solid 6-4 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. In the team's last game Abuhawwas had a remarkable 85.7% from 2-point range and got three three-pointers out of 7 attempts. He turned to be Al Ahli's top player in his first season with the team. Mars Hill College graduate has very impressive stats this year. Abuhawwas is in league's top in points (2nd best: 24.1ppg), assists (6th best: 5.7apg) and averages solid 2.4spg,59.7% FGP and 42.3% from behind 3-point line. Worth to mention Abuhawwas played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball. Second best performed player last round was Yazan Al Taweel (188-F-1993) of Al Riyadi. He is international forward in his second season at Al Riyadi. In the last game Al Taweel recorded impressive 21 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Of course he led Al Riyadi to another comfortable win 99-85 over slightly higher-ranked Orthodox (6-4) being unquestionably team leader. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Al Riyadi consolidated its place in top 3 of the standings. His team's 6-4 record is not bad at all. Al Taweel is well-known at Al Riyadi and he already established his position as one of the team's leaders. Third place about best performers goes to another Al Ahli's star - center Mahmoud Hazaymeh (205-C-2002). Hazaymeh showcased his all-around game by recording 17 points, sixteen rebounds (!!!) and four assists in the last round. He was another key player of Al Ahli, helping his team with a 94-56 easy win against #2 ranked Orthodox. Al Ahli confirms their top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 6 victories and 4 lost games. Hazaymeh has a very solid season. In 20 games in Jordan he scored 6.3ppg. He also has 5.6rpg and FGP: 61.1%.
