Obeid's 23 points and 9 rebounds give him Player of the Week award- March 23, 2023
He had the game-high 23 points adding nine rebounds for Al Riyadi in his team's victory, helping them to crush, Second Stage bottom-ranked team Al Jubaiha (#4, 0-6) with 20-point margin 87-67. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Al Riyadi maintains the 3rd position in Jordanian league. Al Riyadi is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. But it was their 3rd lost game this season out of 6 games. In the team's last game Obeid had a remarkable 60.0% from 2-point range. He turned to be Al Riyadi's top player in his first season with the team. Obeid has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in rebounds (6th best: 8.8rpg) and averages solid 48.8% from behind 3-point line. Second best performed player last round was Darrin Dorsey (188-PG-1987, agency: Diamond Sports) of top-ranked Orthodox. He is American guard in his first season at Orthodox. In the last game Dorsey recorded impressive double-double of 17 points and 13 assists. Of course he led Orthodox to another comfortable win outscoring slightly lower-ranked Al Ahli (#2, 3-3) 95-74. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Orthodox consolidated its place in the very top position of the standings. A very good start of the Second Stage for his team, which won so far all 6 games without any defeat. Dorsey is a newcomer at Orthodox and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.9ppg (#6). His other stats are also decent: 7.4rpg and 7.0apg. Third place about best performers goes to guard Amin Abuhawwas (190-G-1994) of league's second-best Al Ahli. Abuhawwas showcased his all-around game by recording 23 points, eleven rebounds (!!!) and four assists in the last round. Despite Abuhawwas' great performance Al Ahli lost 74-95 to #1 ranked Orthodox. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Al Ahli needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 3 victories and 3 lost games. Abuhawwas has a great season in Jordan. After 13 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 25.2ppg (2nd best) and assists with 5.5apg (6th best). He also has 2.2spg, FGP: 58.4% and 3PT: 43.2%. Amin Abuhawwas has also Jordanian passport and can play in the league with a status of domestic player. Abuhawwas attended one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball.
