Premier League Round 1 (Second Stage): Al Riyadi is defeated by Al Ahli

The Second Stage in Premier League just started. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Amman: Al Ahli and Al Riyadi. Al Ahli crushed visiting Al Riyadi by 30 points 116-86. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Al Riyadi. Al Ahli dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Al Riyadi's 46. They outrebounded Al Riyadi 50-36 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Al Ahli looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Al Riyadi's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Al Ahli made 9 blocks. American forward Gerard Tarin (206-1996, college: Nova SE) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and the former international guard Amin Abuhawwas (190-1994, college: Mars Hill) chipped in 29 points. At the losing side American swingman Brandon Spearman (191-1991, college: Hawaii) responded with 27 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
Very significant was Orthodox's (#1, 11-0) victory against Al Jubaiha 78-70. International forward Caden Najdawi (203-1999, college: Millersville) nailed 19 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winning side and Darrin Dorsey accounted for 15 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Guyanese-American forward Kevin Mickle (201-1993, college: Ohio) came up with 27 points and 9 rebounds for Al Jubaiha in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.



Orthodox - Al Jubaiha 78-70

Very significant was Orthodox's (#1, 11-0) victory against Al Jubaiha 78-70. They outrebounded Al Jubaiha 43-31 including a 35-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Orthodox players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. International forward Caden Najdawi (203-1999, college: Millersville) nailed 19 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winning side and American point guard Darrin Dorsey (188-1987, college: DWU, agency: Diamond Sports) accounted for 15 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Guyanese-American forward Kevin Mickle (201-1993, college: Ohio) came up with 27 points and 9 rebounds and Yousef Al-Awamleh added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Al Jubaiha in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
