Al Riyadi - Kofer Yoba 94-60 Third ranked Al Riyadi (5-4) crushed at home 5th ranked Kofer Yoba (2-7) by 34 points 94-60, which is the biggest margin this round on Monday night. Al Riyadi outrebounded Kofer Yoba 47-30 including a 38-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Malek Kanaan (182-1993, college: W.Valley JC) who scored 16 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. The former international swingman Nader Suleiman (187-1992) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. Five Al Riyadi players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Palestinian center Yousef Shatat (210-1994) who recorded 7 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists and American guard DeCardo Day (196-1998, college: Alabama St.) added 19 points and 4 steals respectively. Kofer Yoba's coach Ibrahim Abu Asous gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Al Riyadi maintains third place with 5-4 record having four points less than leader Orthodox. Kofer Yoba lost their third game in a row. They keep the fifth position with seven games lost. Al Riyadi will meet at home bottom-ranked Al Ashrafiyah (#6) in the next round. Kofer Yoba will play against the league's second-placed Al Ahli and hope to secure a win. The best for the losing side was Guyanese-American forward Kevin Mickle (201-1993, college: Ohio) with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!), 16 rebounds and 4 assists and Yousef Al-Awamleh scored 9 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Al Jubaiha's coach Yousef Abu Baker rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Al Ashrafiyah maintains sixth place with 1-8 record. Al Jubaiha at the other side keeps the fourth position with six games lost. Al Ashrafiyah are looking forward to face higher ranked Al Riyadi (#3) in Amman in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Al Jubaiha will play at home against the league's leader Orthodox and is hoping to win this game. Five Orthodox players scored in double figures. The former international forward Zane Najdawi (201-1996, college: Citadel) came up with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) and American forward Gerard Tarin (206-1996, college: Nova SE) added 24 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Al Ahli in the defeat. Orthodox (9-0) have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain first place with a perfect record of 9 victories in a row. Defending champion Al Ahli keeps the second position with two games lost. Orthodox will play against Al Jubaiha (#4) on the road in the next round. Al Ahli will play against Kofer Yoba in Irbid and hopes to get back on the winning track.
