Premier League Round 2: Kofer Yoba is defeated by Al Jubaiha- December 31, 2022
There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in Premier League. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
Kofer Yoba - Al Jubaiha 43-68 The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Kofer Yoba in Irbid on Friday night. Hosts were rolled over by Al Jubaiha 68-43. Al Jubaiha held Kofer Yoba to an opponent 24.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 37.5 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Kofer Yoba 51-37 including 36 on the defensive glass. Guyanese-American forward Kevin Mickle (201-1993, college: Ohio) had a double-double by scoring 11 points and 15 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Mitri Bosheh (180-1996) chipped in 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four Al Jubaiha players scored in double figures. American guard DeCardo Day (196-1998, college: Alabama St.) responded with 12 points and forward Ahmad Al Momani (189-1981) scored 11 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Top scorers: Al Jubaiha: B.Mitri 11+9reb+4ast, K.Mickle 11+15reb, A.Mohammad 10+4reb+1ast, Y.Al-Awamleh 10+8reb+3ast, H.Yazeed 6+1reb+1ast, A.Bostami 6+4reb+2ast Kofer Yoba: D.Day 12+3reb+2ast, A.Al Momani 11+4reb+1ast, A.Omare Ammar 6+4reb+1ast, Y.Shatat 5+6reb+1ast, A.Al-Shareeki 3+3reb+3ast, Z.Ali 3+5reb+1ast Al Riyadi - Al Ahli 72-95 Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Amman: Al Ahli and Al Riyadi. Al Riyadi was smashed at home by 23 points 72-95 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Al Ahli forced 21 Al Riyadi turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists. American forward Gerard Tarin (206-1996, college: Nova SE) notched a double-double by scoring 23 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks to lead the effort and the former international guard Sami Bzai (190-1994, college: SE Oklahoma) supported him with 21 points. Tarin is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four Al Ahli players scored in double figures. Even 25 points and 6 rebounds by the former international forward Ahmad Obeid (197-1990) did not help to save the game for Al Riyadi. American swingman Brandon Spearman (191-1991, college: Hawaii) added 22 points and 8 rebounds for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Orthodox forced 22 Al Ashrafiyah turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 31 assists. Al Ashrafiyah was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international guard Ashraf Al-Hendi (190-1995) notched 32 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and international center Mohammad Hussein (210-1990) supported him with 16 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists. Even a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds by Mohammad Al Buheiri did not help to save the game for Al Ashrafiyah. Jalal Al Bustami added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists for the guests. Four Orthodox and five Al Ashrafiyah players scored in double figures. Al Ashrafiyah's coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win.
