AMMAN - The national basketball team has regained its form on Monday, defeating 2022 FIBA Asia Cup host Indonesia 77-52 in the first round of the Asian qualifiers (first half, 37-26) in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Ahmed Al-Duwairi and Youssef Abu Wazna shone with the former's 11-point double-double with 10 rebounds and three assists, and the latter's 11 points and seven rebounds. Ahmed Al-Hamarsheh scored 8 points, 9 rebounds and a block. Derek Xaviero was the most prominent Indonesian player scoring 14 points, eight rebounds and three steals.

The Falcons have secured a temporary spot at the top of their group with 10 points while the results of the Lebanon-Saudi Arabia game are pending. Lebanon has nine points, Saudi Arabia has eight, and Indonesia sits at the bottom of the group with six points.
