Jimmy Baxter
Club Deportivo Valdivia (LIBSUR) landed experienced 36-year old Jordanian ex-international swingman Jimmy Baxter (196-96kg-80, college: S.Florida). He has a double citizenship as he also holds American passport. Baxter played in the summer at Caballeros de Culiacan in Mexican CIBACOPA. He managed to play in three leagues in two countries last year (!!!). In 17 CIBACOPA games he averaged impressive 17.5ppg, 3.9rpg, 3.1apg and 1.2spg. Baxter ended the last season at Toros in LPB where in 13 games he had 10.5ppg, 3.3rpg and 1.9apg. But the most of that year he spent at Penarol in LigaA. In 22 games he recorded 14.0ppg, 3.3rpg, 2.0apg and 1.4spg.
Among other achievements Baxter's team made it to the Argentinian Super 8 Cup final in 2014. He received also Latinbasket.com Dominican Rep. LNB All-Imports Team award in 2014.
Baxter represented Jordan at the Asian Championships in Manila (Philippines) three years ago. His stats at that event were 9 games: Score-5 (14.1ppg), 3.6rpg, 3.9apg, FGP: 42.3%, 3PT: 31.0%, FT: 68.8%.
Baxter is a very experienced player. And here thanks to pro basketball he experienced life in fifteen different countries playing on three different continents. He is familiar with European, Latin American and of course North American leagues. Baxter has played previously professionally in Belgium, Brazil (Brasilia and Sao Jose/Vinac), France (Sluc Nancy and JL Bourg), Germany (Giessen 46ers), Greece (Ilysiakos), Iran, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Portugal, Slovenia, Turkey, Argentina (Obras Basket and Quimsa), Venezuela (Guaiqueries) and Dominican Republic (Reales de La Vega).
He is close to retirement age as a player. It may be one of last seasons in his extensive career, which he may end at CD Valdivia.
Baxter attended University of South Florida until 2004 and it will be his 13th (hopefully lucky) (!!!) season in pro basketball.
Let's have closer look into His outlook: A former track and field All-American and Olympic hopeful in the high-jump from the University of South Florida (USF). Recipient of 2003 NCAA Award of Valor.
Left USF in senior season as C-USA all-conference basketball star and turned pro signing with Oliveirense Simoldes in Portugal. Gave a spectacular performance in the 2005 Treviso Summer League (Italy) attracting interest from all over Europe. Very talented playmaking guard/forward with complete package. Played in the 2005 French League All-Star Game

Jordan tightens race for final Asian spot in FIBA WC with rout of sluggish China - 1 month ago
Jordan is still putting up a fight in the race for the last slot in the FIBA World Cup. Behind the hot hands of naturalized guard Dar Tucker (193-SG-88, college: DePaul), the team pulled off a huge upset in the Asian Qualifiers, zapping China, 86-62, at the Prince Hamzah Hall in Amman on Friday. Tucker was all around the court as he led Jordan to a very important victory that salvaged its bid to join its victim in the FIBA World Cup. He actually finished the job for the Jordanians as vete...   [read more]
