WJBL Round 2 (Regular Season): Denso I. edge Sunshine R. by one point

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in WJBL. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The most exciting game of round 2 in the WJBL took place in Aichi. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of Sunshine R. to Denso I. 75-74 in the game for the third place. Denso I. made 20-of-22 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game. Strangely Sunshine R. outrebounded Denso I. 43-29 including 20 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was who scored 17 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds. Denso I.'s coach Vladimir Vuksanovic used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Moeko Nagaoka produced 18 points and 6 rebounds for the hosts. Denso I. is looking forward to face Haneda V. in Tokyo in the next round where they are favorite. Sunshine R. will play at home against Fujitsu RW and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Important game to mention about took place in Kawasaki. Chanson V-M saved a 1-point victory on the road edging Fujitsu RW 67-66 in the fight for the third place. saved the victory by scoring 19 points and 9 rebounds. Yurika Sato contributed with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Mfon Joshua replied with 22 points for Fujitsu RW. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Chanson V-M will play against Aishin AW in Anjo in the next round. Fujitsu RW will play on the road against Sunshine R. in Aichi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Anjo was also quite interesting. Eneos S. played at the court of Aishin AW. Eneos S. defeated Aishin AW 78-64 on Saturday. Saori Miyazaki scored 11 points and 9 assists to lead the charge for the winners. Ramu Tokashiki responded with 16 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Eneos S. will meet at home Toyota A. in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Aishin AW will play against Chanson V-M in Shizuoka and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Rest of the games of round 2 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Denso I. was defeated by Sunshine R. in Aichi 67-63. Bottom-ranked Haneda V. was smashed by Toyota A. at home 33-63. Eneos S. destroyed Aishin AW on the opponent's court 86-48. Fujitsu RW managed to outperform Chanson V-M in a home game 83-66. Toyota A. managed to beat Haneda V. on the road 68-52.

Sunshine R. - Denso I. 67-63

There was no surprise in Aichi where Denso I. was defeated by Sunshine R. 67-63 on Saturday. scored 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Nigerian-American power forward Oderah Chidom (193-1995, college: Duke) chipped in 11 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Mai Kawai responded with 17 points and scored 9 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Sunshine R. will meet at home Fujitsu RW in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Denso I. will play against Haneda V. and hope to secure a win.

No shocking result in a game in Tokyo where Toyota A. smashed Haneda V. 63-33 on Saturday. Toyota A. forced 21 Haneda V. turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. scored 10 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and chipped in 12 points during the contest. Shin Okada responded with 4 points and 5 rebounds and Nanoko Motohashi scored 4 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Toyota A. will meet Eneos S. in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Haneda V. will play against Denso I. in Kariya and hope to win that game.
