WJBL Round 1 (Regular Season): Sunshine R. lose to Toyota A.

The Regular Season in WJBL just started. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Sunshine R. in Nagoya on Friday night. Visitors were rolled over by Toyota A. 68-46. Toyota A. outrebounded Sunshine R. 46-35 including 18 on the offensive glass. The former international point guard Mai Yamamoto (163-1999) stepped up and scored 18 points for the winners and the former international point guard Shiori Yasuma (162-1994) chipped in 14 points and 5 assists. At the losing side responded with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Toyota A. is looking forward to face Haneda V. in Tokyo in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Sunshine R. will play at home against Denso I. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a road loss of Aishin AW against Haneda V. on Saturday night. Visiting Aishin AW was defeated by Haneda V. in a tough game in Tokyo 62-69. American center Channon Fluker (193-1997, college: CSUN) nailed a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side and Shin Okada accounted for 15 points and 7 rebounds. Haneda V.'s coach Mikiko Hagiwara allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international power forward Ramu Tokashiki (193-1991) came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds for Aishin AW in the defeat. Haneda V. will play against Toyota A. in Nagoya in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Aishin AW will play at home against Eneos S. to get more than just one victory in their record.
Very important is a home loss of Eneos S. against Chanson V-M on Saturday night. Host Eneos S. was defeated by Chanson V-M in Kashiwa 75-61. Marvelous Nwoko fired a double-double by scoring 25 points and 19 rebounds for the winners. Ashten Prechtel produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds for lost side. Eneos S.'s coach Timothy Lewis rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Chanson V-M will meet Fujitsu RW in the next round. Eneos S. will play against Aishin AW in Anjo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 1: Aishin AW won against Haneda V. on the opponent's court 75-60. Eneos S. outscored Chanson V-M in a home game 97-71. Denso I. recorded a loss to Fujitsu RW on the road 80-69. Toyota A. was defeated by Sunshine R. on its own court 63-75. Denso I. beat Fujitsu RW in Kariya 68-58.

Very expected game in Tokyo where Haneda V. was defeated by Aishin AW 75-60 on Friday. Aishin AW dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Haneda V.'s 24. Aishin AW looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American forward Amira Collins (190-2000, college: NC State, agency: LBM Management) fired 24 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. The former international power forward Ramu Tokashiki (193-1991) chipped in 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Aishin AW players scored in double figures. American center Channon Fluker (193-1997, college: CSUN) produced 11 points and 6 assists and added 15 points respectively for lost side. Haneda V.'s coach Mikiko Hagiwara rotated eleven players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Aishin AW will meet at home Eneos S. in the next round. Haneda V. will play against Toyota A. and hope to win that game.

They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Denso I.'s players. fired a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. chipped in 7 points and 10 assists. Filipino power forward Jack-Danielle Animam (190-1998) produced 14 points and 8 rebounds and Norika Konno added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side.
