Talented Jessica Wariebimo (188-C-2005) had an amazing evening in the last round for Toyota Boshoku Sunshine Rabbits and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 1.
The 19-year old center had a double-double of 31 points and 15 rebounds, while her team edged out Hitachi Cougars (#7, 0-2), the league's bottom-ranked team 78-75. Toyota BSR is placed at 3rd position in Japanese WJBL. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Toyota BSR won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. It's Wariebimo's second year at Toyota BSR and it's hard to imagine this team without her. Wariebimo has impressive league stats. She is league's best scorer averaging so far 28.5ppg and leads league in rebounds with 16.5rpg. Wariebimo is in league's top in and averages solid 2.5bpg and 63.6% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young international forward Yuki Miyazawa (183-F-1993) of second-ranked Fujitsu Red Wave. Miyazawa impressed basketball fans with 27 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists. Of course she led Fujitsu RW to another comfortable win outscoring Aishin AW (1-2) 88-57. Her team has extremely good start of the season. They won both games so far. However the season is at the beginning, so everything can happen. They still may lose their high position in the standings. Miyazawa is one of the most experienced players at Fujitsu RW and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 18.5ppg (#3). She also registered 7.5 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was Ririka Okuyama (180-F-2000) of Hitachi Hi-Tech Cougars (#7). Okuyama scored 27 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Despite Okuyama's great performance the Hitachi Cougars lost 75-78 to Toyota BSR (#3, 2-0). But her team cannot count on just a single shooter as she also needs help of the other teammates. Okuyama has individually a great season in Japan. After only 2 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.5ppg (2nd best).
