Cyberdyne Ibaraki Robots (B1 League) signed 27-year-old American 201cm forward Robert Franks (college: WSU) for the upcoming season. He was the leading scorer for Nagoya Diamond Dolphins, averaging 18.1ppg, 7.7rpg, and 2.5apg in 36 B1 League games last season. Franks was named League Player of the Week during his time in Japan. Prior to this, he played for Hapoel Gilboa Galil in the Israeli league and Adelaide 36ers in the Australian NBL.
He is a very experienced player, thanks to pro basketball he experienced life in five different countries playing on three different continents. Franks is familiar with European, Australian, and of course North American leagues. He has played previously professionally in Australia (Bullets), Israel, NBA (Orlando Magic and Charlotte Hornets), NBA G League (Stockton Kings, Greensboro Swarm, and Osceola Magic), and NBA Summer League (Boston Celtics and Dallas Mavericks).
Among many awards, he won the NBA G League championship title in 2021. Franks received the All-Pac-12 Most Improved Player of the Year award and was selected to the All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention back in 2018 during his college time.
He graduated from Washington State University in 2019 and it'll be his sixth season in pro basketball.
