WJBL Round 24 (Regular Season): Eneos S. lose to Denso I.

There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in WJBL. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

Top ranked Eneos S. (21-3) recorded its third loss in Kashiwa on Sunday night. Hosts were edged by third ranked Denso I. (20-3) 81-80. It ended at the same time the 12-game winning streak of Eneos S.. Denso I. made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Eneos S. helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was the former international power forward Evelyn Mawuli (180-1995) who scored 33 points (!!!). The former international Akaho Himawari (185-1998) chipped in 13 points and 13 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international power forward Ramu Tokashiki (193-1991) who recorded a double-double by scoring 28 points and 15 rebounds. Denso I. maintains third position with 20-3 record behind leader Fujitsu RW, which they share with Toyota A. Defending champion Eneos S. still keeps top place with three games lost. They share the position with Fujitsu RW. Denso I. is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Himeji E. (#14) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Eneos S. will play against Toyota A. (#4) in Nagoya and is hoping to win this game.
The game in Shizuoka supposed to be also worth to mention about. Fourth ranked Toyota A. (20-3) played at the court of 5th ranked Chanson V-M (17-6). Toyota A. smashed Chanson V-M 84-61. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Chanson V-M. It was a good game for the former international point guard Shiori Yasuma (161-1994) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Sokhna Sylla contributed with 22 points and 6 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners. The former international center Izoje Uche (188-2004) replied with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 15 rebounds for Chanson V-M. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Toyota A. moved-up to third place, which they share with Denso I. Chanson V-M at the other side keeps the fifth position with six games lost. Toyota A. will play against league's second-placed Eneos S. in Kashiwa in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Chanson V-M will play on the road against the league's leader Fujitsu RW in Kawasaki and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game in Aichi was also quite interesting. Second ranked Fujitsu RW (21-3) played at the court of 6th ranked Toyota BSR (13-11). Fujitsu RW managed to secure a 6-point victory 70-64 on Sunday. Worth to mention a great performance of Joshuana von Novon who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Jessica Wariebimo with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 20 rebounds. Toyota BSR's coach Lucas Mondelo rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Fujitsu RW have an impressive six-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Eneos S. Toyota BSR lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 11 games lost. Fujitsu RW will meet at home Chanson V-M (#5) in the next round. Toyota BSR will play against Niigata R. and hope to secure a win.

Rest of the games of round 24 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Mitsubishi K. crushed Himeji E. in Nagoya 92-69. Hitachi Cougars beat Niigata R. at home 85-84. Yamanashi QB was destroyed by Aishin AW on the opponent's court 91-61.

Himeji E. - Mitsubishi K. 69-92

There was no surprise when 14th ranked Himeji E. (3-20) was crushed at home by ninth ranked Mitsubishi K. (8-16) 92-69 on Sunday. Mitsubishi K. outrebounded Himeji E. 50-27 including a 32-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Mitsubishi K. looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of center Chihiro Sawa (178-2004) who helped to win the game recording 9 points and 10 rebounds and the former international Aya Watanabe (168-1992) who added 11 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was guard Maho Endo (172-2000) with 13 points and guard Wenwu Moehua (160-1999) scored 8 points and 4 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mitsubishi K. maintains ninth position with 8-16 record. Himeji E. lost ninth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 20 lost games. Mitsubishi K. will meet Aranmare (#12) in the next round. Himeji E. will play against Denso I. in Kariya and hope to secure a win.

Hitachi Cougars - Niigata R. 85-84

No shocking result in a game in Hitachinaka where eighth ranked Hitachi Cougars (11-12) edged 13th ranked Niigata R. (4-20) 85-84 on Sunday. However just one-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Hitachi Cougars looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Mayu Kubota (168-2000) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 5 assists and point guard Hoshi Aka (170-1995) who added 10 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Four Hitachi Cougars players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Nishitarumizu Misakura (170-1998) with 25 points and 7 rebounds and forward Hideka Kanazawa (180-2000) scored 16 points and 6 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Hitachi Cougars moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Aishin AW. Loser Niigata R. keeps the thirteenth position with 20 games lost. Hitachi Cougars will meet at home Aishin AW (#7) in the next round. Niigata R. will play against Toyota BSR (#6) in Aichi and hope to secure a win.

Very expected game in Anjo where 11th ranked Yamanashi QB (4-19) was rolled over by seventh ranked Aishin AW (11-12) 91-61 on Sunday. Aishin AW outrebounded Yamanashi QB 39-28 including a 28-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Aishin AW looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard CaiDeng Sakai (164-1995) who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international Sakura Noguchi (181-2001) who added 18 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Five Aishin AW players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was point guard Inoue Momoko (170-1997) with 8 points and 5 rebounds and Indian center Anmolpreet Kaur (185-1999) scored 9 points and 5 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Aishin AW maintains seventh position with 11-12 record, which they share with Hitachi Cougars. Loser Yamanashi QB keeps the eleventh place with 19 games lost. They share the position with Aranmare. Aishin AW will meet Hitachi Cougars (#8) in the next round. Yamanashi QB will play against Haneda V. in Tokyo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
