Aka's 23 points give her Player of the Week award

Hoshi Aka

28-year old point guard Hoshi Aka (170-PG-1995) had a great game in the last round for Hitachi Hi-Tech Cougars and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 19.
She had the game-high 23 points adding three rebounds and four assists for Hitachi Cougars in her team's victory, helping them to crush Chanson V-M (#5, 15-4) with 19-point margin 85-66. Hitachi Cougars maintains the 7th position in Japanese WJBL. Hitachi Cougars is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 9-10 record. In the team's last game Aka had a remarkable 81.8% from 2-point range. She has many years of experience at Hitachi Cougars, through which she has constantly improved. Hoshi Aka averages this season 8.6ppg.

Second best performed player last round was Maki Takada (185-C-1989) of top-ranked Denso Iris. She is international center in her 16th season at Denso I.. She also registered 6.9 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Sakura Noguchi (181-PF-2001) of Aishin AW Wings (#8). Noguchi showcased her all-around game by recording 10 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists in the last round. She was a key player of Aishin AW, leading her team to a 91-56 easy win against the lower-ranked Himeji E. (#11, 3-16). The chances of Aishin AW ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 11 games, recording just eight victories. With bigger assistance of her teammates, Noguchi could help Aishin AW to bring them higher in the standings. Noguchi has a great season in Japan. After 16 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 7.3rpg (6th best).
