Best players of Japanese WJBL round 15

Daramee Malem-Doi

Senegalese Daramee Malem-Doi (187-C-1997) had a very impressive game in the last round for Hitachi Hi-Tech Cougars and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 15.
The 26-year old center had a double-double of 24 points and twelve rebounds, while her team edged out Toyota BSR (#6, 10-6) 62-60. Hitachi Cougars maintains the 8th position in Japanese WJBL. Hitachi Cougars is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 6-9 record. Malem-Doi has many years of experience at Hitachi Cougars, through which she has constantly improved. Daramee Malem-Doi averages this season 11.6ppg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young international Akaho Himawari (185-SF-1998) of second-ranked Denso Iris. Himawari impressed basketball fans with 22 points and 8 rebounds. Of course she led Denso I. to another comfortable win 64-46 over the lower-ranked Haneda V. (#12, 3-13) being unquestionably team leader. Denso I.'s second position in the standings has not changed. Her team belongs to top of the standings with 14-1 record and is considered one of the main candidates for the league title. Himawari is one of the most experienced players at Denso I. and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was Nigerian center Izoje Uche (188-C-2004) of Chanson V-Magic (#5). Uche scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds. She was a key player of Chanson V-M, leading her team to a 97-77 easy win against the lower-ranked Yamanashi QB (#13, 2-13). Chanson V-M is closer and closer to top of the standings. They will still need more victories. But 12-3 record is not that bad... Uche has a great season in Japan. After 16 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 16.6ppg (3rd best) and rebounds with 11.9rpg (#1 in league). She also has 2.6bpg and FGP: 71.2%.

10. Miki Sakamoto (164-PG-1994) of Toyota BSR - 13 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists
