Tochigi Brex fired past Kawasaki in Game 1. American forward Ryan Rossiter (204-89, college: Siena) stepped up and scored 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import forward Jeffrey Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) chipped in 4 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists. Four Tochigi Brex players scored in double figures. At the losing side international power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds and American power forward Vernon Macklin (208-86, college: Florida) scored 10 points and 9 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.

Nagoya rolled over Ryukyu for the opening win. Diamond Dolphins dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Ryukyu GK's 26. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of center Hilton Armstrong (210-84, college: Connecticut) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 16 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Diamond Dolphins players scored in double figures. Forward Jeff Ayres (206-87, college: ASU) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and forward Kevin Jones (206-89, college: WVU) added 14 points in the effort for Ryukyu GK. Ryukyu GK's coach Norio Sassa rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win.

Chiba Jets cruised past Toyama. Chiba Jets looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Toyama Grouses' players. Naturalized American forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) nailed a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists for the winning side and American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) accounted for 23 points and 8 rebounds. Five Chiba Jets players scored in double figures. American forward Leo Lyons (206-87, college: Missouri) came up with 28 points (on 13-of-15 shooting from the field) and the other American import center Joshua Smith (208-92, college: Georgetown) added 15 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Toyama Grouses in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
