B League Round 55: Diamond Dolphins beat Osaka Evessa by one after a very close game - Apr 8, 2019

The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute surprises and upsets. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

Fourth-ranked Osaka Evessa (20-35) was very close to win a game against third ranked Diamond Dolphins (30-25) in Nagoya on Sunday. Diamond Dolphins managed to secure only one-point victory 87-86. However their fans expected easier game. Diamond Dolphins dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Osaka Evessa's 30. Diamond Dolphins looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) who helped to win the game recording 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international guard Shuto Ando (189-94) contributed with 23 points and 5 assists for the winners. American forward Josh Harrellson (208-89, college: Kentucky) answered with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 18 rebounds for Osaka Evessa. Diamond Dolphins have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Osaka Evessa at the other side keeps the fourth position with 35 games lost. Diamond Dolphins are looking forward to face league's leader Ryukyu GK in Okinawa in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Osaka Evessa will play on the road against Fukuoka Rizing and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

At the losing side Zimbabwean-American Julian Mavunga (203-90, college: Miami, OH, agency: Pensack Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ryukyu GK maintains first place with 36-19 record. Kyoto Hannar. at the other side dropped to the third position with 26 games lost. Chiba Jets' next round opponent will be Akita Happinets (#5) at home. Hokkaido L. will play against the league's second-placed Tochigi Brex and hope to win that game.

Hitachi Sunrockers managed to secure a 8-point victory 92-84 on Sunday. It was a very good performance for Robert Sacre who helped to win the game recording 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Hitachi Sunrockers maintains fourth place with 27-28 record. Akita Happinets lost their tenth game in a row. Newly promoted team keep the fifth position with 40 games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tokyo to the arena Toyota Alvark.

In the last game of round 55 Fukuoka Rizing was beaten by Shiga L-Stars on the road 92-77.
The most impressive performance of 55th round was 15 points, 20 rebounds and 8 assists by Allen Durham of Shiga L-Stars.



Hokkaido L. - Chiba Jets 58-91

B League top team - Chiba Jets (47-8) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed sixth ranked Hokkaido L. (10-45) in Saporro 91-58. They outrebounded Hokkaido L. 37-25 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Chiba Jets players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists.
