American Joshua Smith (208-C-92) had a great game in the last round for Toyama Grouses and that's him to receive a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 54.
The 26-year old center had a double-double of 31 points and sixteen rebounds, while his team beat Kawasaki BT (#2, 37-19) 88-74. Toyama Grouses is placed at 3rd position in their group in Japanese B League. Toyama Grouses is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 29-27 record. Smith turned to be Toyama Grouses' top player in his first season with the team. Joshua Smith averages this season 19.6ppg and 10.6rpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 27-year old American power forward Davante Gardner (203-PF-91) of league's best team Niigata Albirex. Gardner impressed basketball fans with 37 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists. Of course Niigata Albirex cruised to a 95-84 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked SeaHorses (#4, 28-26). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the top position in Central. Niigata Albirex consolidated its place in the very top position of the standings. His team has currently 39-15 record. Gardner is one of the most experienced players at Niigata Albirex and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 27.9ppg (#1). His other stats are also decent: 10.7rpg and 3.8apg.

The third best performed player last round was American Jeffrey Gibbs (188-F-80) of second-ranked Tochigi Brex. Gibbs showcased his all-around game by recording 23 points, eight rebounds and six assists in the last round. He was a key player of Tochigi Brex, leading his team to a 87-83 win against #3 ranked Toyota Alvark. Tochigi Brex is closer and closer to top of the standings in East. They will still need more victories. But 44-10 record is not that bad... Gibbs has a very solid season. In 48 games in Japan he scored 13.8ppg. He also has 9.7rpg, 4.0apg, 2.1spg and FGP: 51.5%.

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Gunma Crane Thunders (B2 League) re-signed experienced 35-year old Nigerian ex-international forward Abdullahi Kuso (206-111kg-84, college: Tallahassee CC). He was a team leader there last season. Tokyo Cinq Reves (B League D3) re-signed 32-year old small forward Yuki Sasaki (190-87). He played there last season. In 55 B League D3 games he recorded 3.1ppg and 1.3rpg.
