MARKEITH CUMMINGS

30-year old Markeith Cummings (198-SF-88) had a very impressive game in the last round for second-ranked Nagoya DD and receives a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 30.
He had a double-double of 40 points and 10 rebounds, while his team beat Yokohama BC (#6, 8-23) 106-99. Nagoya DD maintains the 2nd position in their group in Japanese league. Nagoya DD is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 17-14 record. In the team's last game Cummings had a remarkable 61.9% from 2-point range. He turned to be Nagoya DD's top player in his first season with the team. Kennesaw State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Cummings is in league's top in points (2nd best: 23.8ppg) and averages solid 55.5% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Nick Fazekas (211-F/C-85) of league's second-best Kawasaki BT. He is naturalized American forward in his 7th season at Kawasaki BT. In the last game Fazekas recorded impressive 30 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists. Of course he led Kawasaki BT to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Akita NH (#5, 11-20) 84-62. Kawasaki BT's second position in East has not changed. His team's 19-12 record is not bad at all. Fazekas is one of the most experienced players at Kawasaki BT and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 21.7ppg (#7). He also registered 10.8 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to center Hasheem Thabeet (218-C-87) of Yokohama BC (#6). Thabeet got into 30-points club by scoring 39 points in the last round. He went also for nine rebounds . Despite Thabeet's great performance Yokohama BC lost 99-106 to the higher-ranked Nagoya DD (#2, 17-14). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Yokohama BC can only dream about fighting for top spots in West. They have rather bad season and 8-23 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Thabeet he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Thabeet has a very solid season. In 5 games in Japan he scored 22.4ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. David Simon (208-C-82) of Kyoto Hannar. - 30 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Ryan Kelly (211-PF-91) of Hitachi SR - 18 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists
6. Alex Kirk (211-C-91) of Toyota Alvark - 18 points and 13 rebounds
7. Eric Jacobsen (208-PF-94) of Fukuoka Rizing - 25 points, 12 rebounds and 2 assists

SHOU NISBET Earthfriends Tokyo Z (B2 League) signed 21-year old New Zealander guard Shou Nisbet (196-97, college: Southeast CC). He played last season at Shiga L-Stars in the B League. B League was a little too high level for him, where in 20 games he had just 1.2ppg and 1.4rpg. B2 League will be definitely a better match and he can see more playing time.
