WAYNE MARSHALL

32-year old center Wayne Marshall (211-C-86) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's best team Shinshu BW and receives a Interperformances B2 League Player of the Week award for round 17.
He had a double-double of 30 points and 11 rebounds, while his team beat Fukushima (#6, 5-12) 84-72. It allowed Shinshu BW to consolidate first place in the Japanese B2 League. Shinshu BW have a solid 15-2 record. Marshall turned to be Shinshu BW's top player in his first season with the team. Temple University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Marshall is in league's top in points (9th best: 21.6ppg) and averages solid 2.7bpg and 65.0% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Josh Hawkinson (208-F-95) of league's second-best Toyotsu FE. He is American forward in his 2nd season at Toyotsu FE. In the last game Hawkinson recorded impressive double-double of 27 points and 10 rebounds. Of course Toyotsu FE cruised to a 93-82 relatively comfortable win over slightly higher-ranked Kumamoto V. (12-5). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the top position in Central. Toyotsu FE consolidated its place in top 2 of the standings. His team's 12-5 record is not bad at all. Hawkinson is well-known at Toyotsu FE and he already established his position as one of the team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 22.7ppg (#6). He also registered 11.5 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Rosco Allen (208-PF-93, agency: Pensack Sports) of Shimane SM (#3). Allen showcased his all-around game by recording 29 points, eleven rebounds (!!!) and nine assists in the last round. Despite Allen's great performance Shimane SM lost 85-88 to #4 ranked Nishinomiya S.. But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Shimane SM needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams in West. Their record is 10 victories and 7 lost games. Allen has a great season in Japan. After only 8 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 6.9apg (4th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Gregory Echenique (206-C-90) of Shimane SM - 28 points, 17 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Will Creekmore (205-C-89) of Tokyo Z - 26 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists
6. Garrett Stutz (214-C-90) of Toyotsu FE - 30 points and 19 rebounds
7. Reginald Warren (204-F-81) of Kagawa FA - 24 points, 19 rebounds and 5 assists
8. Jerome Tillman (201-F-87) of Sendai 89ers - 30 points and 12 rebounds
9. Draelon Burns (194-G-85) of Nishinomiya S. - 29 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists
10. Abdullahi Kuso (206-F-84) of Gunma - 12 points, 21 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Sendai 89ers (B2 League) agreed terms with 33-year old guard Masaharu Kataoka (190-85). It is actually his comeback to Sendai as he has played here before.
