RYAN KELLY

27-year old power forward Ryan Kelly (211-PF-91) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Hitachi SR and receives a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 13.
He had a double-double of 24 points and 10 rebounds, while his team crushed Hokkaido L. (#4, 4-9) with 19-point margin 91-72. Hitachi SR maintains the 6th position in their group in Japanese league. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked such low. They already lost 10 games and recorded just three victories. In the team's last game Kelly had a remarkable 53.3% from 2-point range. He turned to be Hitachi SR's top player in his first season with the team. Duke University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Kelly is in league's top in points (7th best: 20.7ppg) and averages solid 51.6% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Javon McCrea (201-F-92) of Yokohama BC. He is American forward in his first season at Yokohama BC. In the last game McCrea recorded impressive 32 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists. Bad luck as Yokohama BC lost that game 90-97 to slightly higher-ranked San-en (#5, 5-8). Yokohama BC managed to keep the same 6th spot in Central. 10 lost games are too many comparing to just three victories Yokohama BC managed to get this year. McCrea is a newcomer at Yokohama BC and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Josh Scott (208-F-93, agency: Pensack Sports) of league's second-best Ryukyu GK. Scott scored 23 points and grabbed thirteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Scott's great performance Ryukyu GK lost 73-77 to the lower-ranked Fukuoka Rizing (#6, 2-11). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Ryukyu GK needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams in West. Their record is 10 victories and 3 lost games. Scott has a very solid season. In 13 games in Japan he scored 17.5ppg. He also has 9.2rpg and FGP: 62.8%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. David Simon (208-C-82) of Kyoto Hannar. - 25 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists
5. Leo Lyons (206-F-87) of Toyama Grouses - 24 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists
6. Nick Fazekas (211-F/C-85) of Kawasaki BT - 27 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists
7. Ryan Rossiter (204-F-89) of Tochigi Brex - 17 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists
8. Robert Dozier (206-F-85) of San-en - 20 points, 13 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Vernon Macklin (208-F/C-86) of Kawasaki BT - 17 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists
10. Gani Lawal (206-F/C-88) of Shiga L-Stars - 20 points and 14 rebounds

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Kataoka is back at Sendai 89ers - 13 days ago
Sendai 89ers (B2 League) agreed terms with 33-year old guard Masaharu Kataoka (190-85). It is actually his comeback to Sendai as he has played here before. Kataoka already started the season at Kyoto Hannaryz in the B League. In 55 games he had 6.2ppg, 1.9rpg and 1.4apg last season. B2 League will be definitely a better match and he can see more playing time. Kataoka's team was regular season runner-up in Japanese B League West Division in 2018.
