Fukuoka Rizing - Toyotsu FE 103-95

Fukuoka Rizing topped Toyotsu FE in the semifinal opener. The hosts trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 33-24 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Fukuoka Rizing outrebounded Toyotsu FE 43-27 including 18 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. 27 personal fouls committed by Toyotsu FE helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Eric Jacobsen (208-94, college: Arizona St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds. Forward Josh Peppers (201-85, college: Cent.Florida) contributed with 17 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Forward Josh Hawkinson (208-95, college: Washington St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and forward Rodney Carney (201-84, college: Memphis) added 14 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Toyotsu FE. Four Toyotsu FE players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.

Akita NH rallied past Kumamoto to surge ahead in the series. Kumamoto V. was ahead by 3 points after three quarters before a 28-21 charge of Akita Happinets, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 21 Kumamoto V. turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Kumamoto V. was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international guard Shigehiro Taguchi (184-90) stepped up and scored 30 points and 5 assists for the winners and point guard Takuya Nakayama (182-94) chipped in 6 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. Akita Happinets' coach Josep Claros used entire bench in such tough game. At the losing side American guard Terrance Woodbury (201-87, college: Georgia) responded with 21 points and point guard Takumi Furuno (179-93) scored 11 points and 6 assists.
