Toyota Alvark crowned 2011/2012 Champions in the country. The team overcame the Winner of the Regular Season, Aishin in the Final series 3-1. Game 4 became decisive in the series as Toyota Alvark grabbed 83:64 win. Toyota Alvark led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Aishin Sea Horses' 24. They outrebounded Aishin Sea Horses 36-21 including 23 on the defensive glass. American forward Philip Ricci (202-F-80, college: Oregon St.) fired 20 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Shonaka posted 10 and Kumagai added 9. The other American import forward Jeff Gibbs (188-F-80, college: Otterbein) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. The former international point guard Shinsuke Kashiwagi (183-PG-81) produced 19 points for lost side. Shogo Asayama (192-F-81) added 15 and Anthony Richardson (201-F-83, agency: TSS Management, college: Florida St.) delivered 9.

East wins overtime show over West in All Star Game as both teams showed an excellent performance in the country. Trailing 3 points before the fourth period, East tied the game after 40 minutes and then grabbed the victory due to 16-13 in overtime. East took 37:29 lead after the first period but could not keep the advantage for good. West first replied with 32-29 to reduce to 66:61 at the halftime. Moreover West needed 35-27 to take the lead before the fourth period. In the fourth quarter East produced 25-22 to tie the game. Due to 16-13 in overtime they celebrated the victory. Takuya Kawamura (193-G-86) erupted with 31 points and 12 assists. Okada netted 24, while Kosuke Takeuchi (206-C/F-85) and Tomoo Amino (196-F-80) added 19 apiece. Takatoshi Furukawa (190-G/F-87) ended up with 23 points in the losing effort. J.R. Sakuragi (206-F/C-76, college: UCLA) followed him with 22 points and 15 rebounds in defeat.

It seems fitting a carmaker blocked the road to Aisin's drive for five on Monday at Toyko's Yoyogi Gym. Taishi Ito stepped up for Toyota, draining a leaning jumper in traffic with 31.2 seconds to play and sealing the Toyota Alvark's 69-65 victory over the four-time defending champion Aishin Sea Horses for Toyota's second All-Japan title. Ito took charge late, scoring nine of his 11 points in the final period. 'The reason I was aggressive at the end of the game was because I just wanted to win,' Ito said. 'I felt good in the semifinal and I was just confident. 'At the timeout [before his final shot], I felt like if I had an opening I was going to go for it. And I was fortunate it went down for me,' said the second-year guard. The Japan Basketball League's front-running Alvark had a 16-point lead in the third quarter, but had to hold off a late charge from the second-place Sea Horses. 'I'm extremely satisfied with the team and extremely satisfied with the win,' said second-year Toyota coach Don Beck , who added Aisin's streak had nothing to do with his club's motivation. 'I didn't even know they had that streak, to be honest. I know that they won it last year when I was here, and I know they've been a very successful team. 'But we kind of focused on them--obviously stopping J.R. [Sakuragi], but really, we focused on us and what we needed to do. Today was a typical example of our team--we're a balanced team and on any day, it's going to be one of [our] 10. It's a real pleasure to coach them.' Toyota, which won the title in 2007, had four double-digit scorers. Eight of the 10 players who got minutes grabbed at least one board as Toyota outrebounded Aisin 43-36. Philip Ricci (202-F-80, college: Oregon St.), whose press-breaking dunk with 16.2 left in the game ended the scoring, had 13 points and eight rebounds, and Takeki Shonaka (180-G-84) chipped in with 10 points. Kosuke Takeuchi (206-C/F-85), in his first season with Toyota, had 10 points and seven boards against his old team. Takeuchi--who has now played for five straight All-Japan winners--earned his fifth all-tournament selection, and Ito and Ricci each received the honor for the first time. The Alvark survived a 17-point, 10-rebound effort from all-tourney selection Sakuragi, and 17 points from Shinsuke Kashiwagi (183-PG-81). Anthony Richardson (201-F-83, agency: TSS Management, college: Florida St.) had 13 points, including 12 in the fourth quarter. Kashiwagi was also named to the all-tournament team, but the point guard had three turnovers and only one assist, and couldn't lead Aisin back from a big hole. 'I think if we were behind by single digits, we could have had a better chance,' said Aisin coach Kimikazu Suzuki . 'But if you're down by double digits to Toyota, it takes a lot of energy to get back in the game. 'Still, we did a good job of resting some guys and fighting back, but we didn't have enough in the tank to hit some shots down the stretch.'
