Toshiba are the new NBL champions. The Brave Thunders handed the third straight defeat to Wakayama Trians today and swept the title series. The game was mostly controlled by Toshiba Thunders. Wakayama T. managed to win fourth quarter 26-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Wakayama T. to just 4 points in first quarter. Toshiba Thunders looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks. International swingman Naoto Tsuji (185-89) helped adding 20 points. Toshiba Thunders' coach Takuya Kita used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was the former international center Fumihiko Aono (210-78) with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds and the former international guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) scored 16 points. NBL Announces All-Star Game starters - Nov 12, 2013
The NBL (National Basketball League) of Japan yesterday announced the starters for its inaugural All-Star Game.
The NBL is a spinoff of the Japan Basketball League (JBL), which has been the mainstay as the top basketball league of Japan.
The 2013-2014 season classic will be held in Tokyo and feature numerous events in addition to the main game.
Other events include: a wheel chair basketball exhibition game, the NBDL (2nd division) All-Star game, and the
3x3 Unplugged exhibition.
All starters, including the imports were selected by fans via internet vote and through ballots at game arenas nationwide.
The remaining players will be selected by the league's coaches. The selected players are scheduled to be announced on November 15.
