Hamamatsu Phoenix triumph in BJ League as they became better than any team of the League. Hamamatsu won the Regular Season with 41-11 record, won the Quarterfinal, Semifinal and the Final Games.
In the Final Hamamatsu Phoenix overcame Osaka Evessa 84:56. Trailing 14-16 after the opening quarter the favorites needed 22-11 in the second period to take 36:27 lead at the halftime. In the second half the court was dominated only by one team as Phoenix won both frames. In the third quarter they produced 21-17 for 57:44 advantage and finished with 27-12 in the last quarter. Dzaflo Larkai (203-F/C-81, college: Bellarmine) stepped up with 20 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. William Knight (196-F/G-79, college: UCLA) nailed 18, while White Wendell notched 17. Lynn Washington (200-F-78, college: Indiana) responded with 21 points and 9 rebounds in defeat.
In the game for the third place Okinawa GK rolled over Niigata Albirex 85:72. The winners started with 21-19 lead and added 252-0 in the second period. Jeff Newton (205-C-81, college: Indiana) top-scored for the winners with 23 points and 12 rebounds. Tsubasa Yonamine (173-G-83) collected 14 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds, while Anthony McHenry (201-G/F-83, college: Georgia Tech) delivered 13 points and 12 rebounds. Paul Butorac (208-F-83, college: E.Washington) ended up with 19 points in the losing effort.

Ricky Woods (194-F/G-84, college: SE Louisiana) followed him with 24 and George Leach (210-C-81, college: Indiana) posted 18.
