The Chiba Jets repeat over the Ryukyu Golden Kings to win back-to-back Emperor's Cup titles in Japan, less than a week after ruling the East Asia Super League in Lapu-Lapu City. It’s been quite a week for the Chiba Jets. Less than seven days after their East Asia Super League conquest in Lapu-Lapu City, the Jets make it a double feature, winning Japan’s 99th Emperor’s Cup crown with a thorough dismantling of defending B.League champion Ryukyu Golden Kings Saturday at the Saitama Super Arena.Chiba beat the Golden Kings, 117-69, making it back-to-back Emperor’s Cup championships. The Jets, who are currently positioned in the wildcard of the B.League playoffs, will have a chance for a rare triple crown this season. Christopher Smith (193-G-1994, college: Utah St.) led the way for the Jets with 26 points, while Chiba’s EASL heroes in Yuki Togashi (170-PG-1993) and John Mooney (206-F-1998, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) added 20 and 17 points respectively. Chiba also beat Ryukyu in the Finals of the 98th Emperor’s Cup last year, but the Golden Kings got a measure of revenge by sweeping the Jets for the B.League title. Ryuichi Kishimoto (176-G-1990) and former three-time PBA Best Import Allen Durham (198-F/C-1988, college: Grace Christian) paced Ryukyu with 13 points apiece. Black Team - White Team 123-128 White Team triumphed in All Star Game 2024. They overcame Black Team 128-123 in Okinawa. Both teams exchanged the wins in the first half as the board showed 67-61 for the Black Team. The White squad however replied with a 31-25 run in the third quarter and won the last stanza 36-31. Perrin Buford (198-F-1994, college: MTSU, agency: Pensack Sports) top-scored for the winners with 19 points and Yuki Togashi (170-PG-1993) notched 17. Ryuichi Kishimoto (176-G-1990) replied with 24 points in the losing effort, whilst Jack Cooley (206-C/F-1991, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) brought 18.
