Superleague Round 28 (Regular Season): Al Naft defeat Zakho in the closest game of the week

Ninth-ranked Zakho (5-12) gave a tough game to second ranked Al Naft (16-4) in Baghdad on Monday. Al Naft managed to secure only one-point victory 93-92. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Zakho. Al Naft have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 16-4 record behind leader Al-Difaa. Zakho at the other side keeps the ninth place with 12 games lost.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Baghdad: Al Shurtah (#3) and Dijlah (#5). Al Shurtah (13-6) smashed visiting Dijlah (10-8) by 22 points 92-70. Al Shurtah maintains third position with 13-6 record having five points less than leader Al-Difaa. Dijlah at the other side keeps the fifth place with eight games lost.
Very important is a home loss of third ranked Al Karkh (11-7) against eighth ranked Al-Hashd (7-13) on Saturday night. Host Al Karkh was defeated by Al-Hashd in Al Karkh 89-79. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Al Karkh. Al-Hashd moved-up to seventh place. Newly promoted Al Karkh dropped to the fourth position with seven games lost.

In the last two games of round 28 Ghaz Al-Shamal was destroyed by Al Shurtah on the opponent's court 109-51. Al-Difaa outscored Al Karkh in a home game 95-74.



Al Shurtah - Ghaz Al-Shamal 109-51

Very expected game in Baghdad where 10th ranked Ghaz Al-Shamal (4-16) was crushed by third ranked Al Shurtah (13-6) 109-51 on Monday. Al Shurtah maintains third position with 13-6 record having five points less than leader Al-Difaa. Loser Ghaz Al-Shamal keeps the tenth place with 16 games lost.

Al Karkh - Al-Hashd 79-89

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Al Karkh (11-7) against eighth ranked Al-Hashd (7-13) on Saturday night. Host Al Karkh was defeated by Al-Hashd in Al Karkh 89-79.
