Superleague Round 21 (Regular Season): Al Karkh defeat Al Naft in the closest game of the week

The most exciting game of round 21 in the Superleague took place in Al Karkh. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 3rd placed Al Naft (11-4) to fifth ranked Al Karkh (10-5) 77-76 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Al Naft. Al Karkh moved-up to fourth place. Defending champion Al Naft keeps the third position with four games lost.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Baghdad: Al Shurtah (#3) and Al Kahraba (#6). Al Shurtah (11-3) crushed visiting Al Kahraba (6-9) by 21 points 95-74. Al Shurtah have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Al Kahraba at the other side dropped to the seventh position with nine games lost.
Superleague top team - Al-Difaa (14-2) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they beat eleventh ranked Nift Al-Shamal (2-11) 96-79. Newly promoted Al-Difaa maintains first place with 14-2 record. Loser Nift Al-Shamal stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost.

In the last two games of round 21 Zakho lost to Dijlah on the opponent's court 67-83. Al Hilla managed to outperform Al-Hashd in a home game 79-75.




Dijlah - Zakho 83-67

Very expected game in Baghdad where 9th ranked Zakho (3-10) was defeated by fifth ranked Dijlah (9-5) 83-67 on Friday. Dijlah maintains fifth place with 9-5 record. Loser Zakho keeps the ninth position with ten games lost.
