Superleague Round 18: Al-Hashd is defeated by Al Shorta in a derby game- February 5, 2022
Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
Al-Jameaa - Zakho 74-65 Rather expected game when 5th ranked Zakho (8-6) was defeated on the road by second ranked Al-Jameaa (10-5) 74-65 on Monday. Al-Jameaa have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 10-5 record having five points less than leader Al Naft. Loser Zakho keeps the fifth place with six games lost. Al-Jameaa's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in to the arena . Al-Hashd - Al Shorta 71-79 The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Baghdad: Al Shorta (#5) and Al-Hashd (#3). Al-Hashd was defeated at home 71-79 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Al Shorta (9-5) moved-up to third place. Al-Hashd at the other side dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. Al Kahraba - Al Naft 87-92 Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Baghdad: Al Naft (#1) and Al Kahraba (#8). Despite it looked like an easy game for Al Naft, those rules do not exist in derby games. It's more the case of honor for local supporters and such games have that special and unique approach you cannot find in other games. Host Al Kahraba challenged much higher ranked Al Naft giving them a very tough game, but finally losing it by five points 92-87. Al Naft (15-0) have an impressive 15-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with a perfect record of 15 victories in a row. Al Kahraba at the other side keeps the eighth place with seven games lost. Al-Tadamoun - Zakho 75-63 An interesting game took place in Najef where higher ranked Zakho (8-6) was upset on the court of tenth ranked Al-Tadamoun (5-9) 75-63 on Wednesday. Al-Tadamoun maintains tenth position with 5-9 record. Loser Zakho keeps the fifth place with six games lost. Al-Tadamoun will meet Al-Semawah (#11) in the next round. Zakho will play against Nift Al-Shamal (#12) and hope to secure a win. |
