Superleague Round 8: Al-Jameaa defeat Al Hilla in the closest game of the week

The most exciting game of round 8 in the Superleague took place in Al Hilla. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of one of their biggest challengers Al Hilla (3-2) to eighth ranked Al-Jameaa (3-2) 67-64 in the game for the fourth place. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Al Hilla. Al-Jameaa moved-up to fourth place, which they share with defeated Al Hilla. Al-Jameaa is looking forward to face Al Kahraba (#9) in Baghdad in the next round where they are favorite. Al Hilla will play at home against Nift Al-Shamal (#13) and is hoping to win this game.
Eleventh ranked Al Shorta (2-3) crushed at home 12th ranked Al-Khtot (1-4) by 45 points 112-67, which is the biggest margin this round. Al Shorta moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Al Kahraba. Al-Khtot at the other side keeps the twelfth position with four games lost. Al Shorta's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Baghdad Al Naft.

In the last two games of round 8 Al-Tadamoun lost to Al-Hashd on the opponent's court 74-83. Al Kahraba managed to outperform Nift Al-Shamal in a home game 81-65.



Al-Hashd - Al-Tadamoun 83-74

Rather expected game in Baghdad where 5th ranked Al-Tadamoun (3-3) was defeated by second ranked Al-Hashd (5-1) 83-74. Al-Hashd have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 5-1 record having just one point less than leader Al Naft. Al-Tadamoun at the other side dropped to the sixth place with three games lost. They share the position with Zakho. Al-Hashd will play against Nift Al-Basra (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Al-Tadamoun will play against Al-Khtot and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Rather predictable result in Baghdad where tenth ranked Al Kahraba (2-3) defeated bottom-ranked Nift Al-Shamal (1-6) 81-65. Al Kahraba moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Al Shorta. Nift Al-Shamal at the other side stay at the bottom position with six games lost. Al Kahraba will play against higher ranked Al-Jameaa (#4) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Nift Al-Shamal will play against Al Hilla (#5) to get more than just one victory in their record.
